I installed the BD playback 2021U build fix Before I installed 2217U Perhaps ths somehow enabled the AACS updates, I dont know, but I did notice this build fixed the issues with freeze ups/black screeens, and AACS keys general updates. Something else I did too that may have affected BD playback. This of course may present an issue if the AACS keys are again changed on the new releases, and Powerdvd ultra is "broken", and will not check for futher updates. By restoring the app folder, I must have also restored any incremental AACS updates that occured previously when I played the newer releases (like Hellboy II, and Spiderwick) which enabled BD playback on the newer releases due to the updated AACS. I can only assume that when I played newer BD movies (the player would then check for "updates" and then perform a "download"), and updated the AACS, now for whatever reason this is broken, and the players no longer do this, and instead will require the New build to be updated. I dont know what the problem is with the newer builds, but they are glitchy, and appear to break the BD playback with the AACS keys. I had difficulty with BD playback (due to I think, of the missing AACS BD updates), after restoring the May version of the folder all was back to normal. Orginally, the restore was from Feb 2009, right after build 2217 was installed, but before the downloaded automatic AACS updates. Make the most of PowerDVD 7 for watching DVDs on the go. (just to be safe though, back up the Cyberlink folder, and Powerdvd programs folder for restoration if need be)

Anybody else try to update their build and have a "no play/no sound issue with newer BD movies?Īnyone using PowerDVD Ultra for BD playback, try installing the newer builds and then try to play a June 2008 or newer release BD movie. I tried two Movies BD Spiderwick and BD Hellboy II. They want to force updates on those using player builds that can read BD files off the drive, and that use AnyDVD to break the encryption. I suspect the older build upgrade/or no playback message is by design. I fixed the issue, and now Build 2217 plays all again, but had I not backed up the Cyberlink/Powerdvd folders I would be stuck with a non-functional player. Its as if the Player will longer connect and update/authenticate the playback keys, Unless using a newer build, and those newer builds are non-functional/glitchy.

I figured out how to fix the issue, but I dont know what caused it. Of course the issue here was If I updated, then I had no audio and the video froze/crashed the player. The "update" opens up a IE window to download Build 2705. I then reinstalled/restored build 2217, and still had a different issue: a message to update, or there would be no Blu-ray playback.

On saturday I "upgraded" my working 2217 build to build 2705/2815 then there is no audio, and the video freezes at movie startup.
